Built for reading, not printing

Why EPUB is often better than PDF for reading

PDF and EPUB solve different problems. A PDF protects the original page. An EPUB adapts the book to the person reading it.

A PDF keeps every line, image, margin, and page break in a fixed position. That fidelity is valuable when a document must print exactly as designed. On a phone or compact e-reader, though, the same fixed page is often reduced until the words become tiny. Reading turns into a repetitive cycle of zooming and dragging.

EPUB is designed around reflowable text. Your reading app can reshape paragraphs for the screen, increase the font size, adjust line spacing, change margins, and apply its own light or dark reading theme. Instead of fitting a printed page onto a device, the book fits the device you already own.

Adjustable type

Choose a comfortable font size and line spacing without magnifying an entire page.

Better on phones

Paragraphs wrap to a narrow screen, reducing sideways panning and pinching.

Reader controls

Use your app's themes, bookmarks, highlights, and remembered reading position.

Ebook organization

Keep converted books alongside the rest of your EPUB library and reading queue.

How to convert a PDF book to EPUB

  1. 1
Choose a PDF under 50 MB.

The browser validates the file before it leaves your device.

  2. 2
    Keep the converter page open.

Your PDF uploads directly to private storage while Calibre prepares the EPUB.

  3. 3
    Download and open the EPUB.

The download starts automatically, and a manual button remains available.

Conversion quality starts with the source PDF

Text-first, single-column books convert best. Scans, decorative layouts, footnotes, formulas, tables, and multiple columns can produce misplaced text or images. This converter does not perform OCR or editorial cleanup.

Where to read your converted EPUB

EPUB is the standard format used by Apple Books, Kobo, Google Play Books, and many independent reading apps. Kindle users can upload the EPUB with Amazon's Send to Kindle service, which delivers a Kindle-compatible copy to the library associated with their account.

PDF to EPUB questions

Is this PDF to EPUB converter free?

Yes. The MVP converts one PDF at a time without an account or payment.

Will the EPUB look exactly like the PDF?

Usually not, and that is the point of reflowable EPUB. Text is reorganized to fit the reader. Image-heavy, scanned, multi-column, equation-heavy, and table-heavy PDFs can require manual cleanup.

Can I read the EPUB on Kindle?

Yes. Current Kindle workflows accept EPUB through Send to Kindle. Amazon converts it for delivery to your Kindle library.

What happens to my PDF?

The PDF and generated EPUB are stored privately for conversion and scheduled for automatic deletion. Public bucket access is disabled.

Can this convert a scanned PDF?

Not reliably in the MVP. Scanned PDFs need OCR before their words can become clean reflowable text.
